4 found dead in San Francisco home; police investigating as criminal

Four people were found dead in a San Francisco home on Wednesday, according to authorities who said they are investigating the deaths as “suspicious.”

Officers responded to the scene in the 900 block of Monterey Blvd in response to a well-being check at 1:23 p.m. PDT, the San Francisco Police Department said in a statement.

On arrival, the officers found four unresponsive individuals, who were later declared dead.

“The evidence is pointing toward a criminal case,” San Francisco Police Department officer Robert Rueca told reporters in a press conference.

He added that “this appears to be a criminal action,” but declined to specify.

He said that the house was not known to police and that “this neighborhood rarely sees any type of activity close to this.”

“Nothing close to this,” he said.

The San Francisco Police Department said in its statement that, “This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no general threat to the public.”

The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail is said to be leading the investigation.

The identities of the deceased have not been made public.

According to the authorities, the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting a parallel investigation into the incident and will determine the cause and manner of the victims’ deaths.
