Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson underwent core muscle surgery and will miss the rest of the season, a source told UPI on Tuesday.
The source, who called the surgery “a great success,” said Hendrickson will need about six weeks to recover.
Hendrickson, who requested a trade this off-season before receiving a $14 million raise from the Bengals, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
The four-time Pro Bowl selection, who logged a league-high 17.5 sacks en route to first-team All-Pro honors in 2024, totaled four sacks over seven starts this season.
Hendrickson missed six games through the first 14 weeks of the season, including the last five. He was listed on the injury report with hip/pelvis injuries and hasn’t practiced since Week 8.
Hendrickson, who matched his career-high sack total with 17.5 in 2023, totaled 81 sacks through the first 117 appearances of his career. He totaled at least 13.5 sacks per season in four of five years from 2020 through 2024.
The Bengals (4-9), who lost five of their last six games, will host the Baltimore Ravens (6-7) at 1 p.m. EST Sunday in Cincinnati.
