The body of a 22-year-old Kentucky college student has been found after a nearly month-long search, local police announced Monday.
Murry (Alexis) Foust, a student at Northern Kentucky University, was reported missing on May 1, four days after she was last seen in the Latonia neighborhood of Covington, Ky.
Covington Police Capt. Justin Bradbury said Foust’s body was discovered in an industrial area of Wilder, Ky., about 7 miles south of Covington, by an independently organized search party.
Bradbury did not list a cause of death but said there were no indications of foul play.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the Foust family and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” he said in a statement. “While we are saddened by this loss, we hope this development can provide the family with some answers and a measure of closure.”
The official cause and manner of death “will be determined by the Campbell County Coroner’s Office,” he added. “No additional details will be released until that determination has been made.”
Foust’s disappearance triggered a widespread search coordinated by the university, which asked for people to share any information about her. Her family had been posting updates on the Murry Foust Missing Information Hub group chat on Facebook.
Equusearch Midwest, a volunteer search and recovery organization based in Texas, had joined the Covington Police Department in using a boat to search the Licking River near where Foust was last seen.
