News reports say a shooting near the White House has involved several people who appear to be in military uniform.
The incident in the nation’s capital took place blocks from the White House, according to ABC News reports.
The New York Post reported that U.S. Secret Service members were seen responding to the event, according to a social media post by a Newsmax reporter.
Other reports said the D.C. Police Department was aware of the event, calling it a “critical incident” and adding that officers were on scene at the shooting site at 17th and I Street, NW.
Residents were told by authorities to stay away from the area.
