Billionaire real estate mogul and former Victoria’s Secret owner Les Wexner is testifying before members of Congress on his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein in a closed-door hearing on Wednesday.
The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Wexner after his name was discovered in the files on the investigation of Epstein. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., grilled U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi during a House Judiciary Committee hearing last week over redacting Wexner’s name as a co-conspirator in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
Massie alleges that the Department of Justice has attempted to protect Wexner.
“This is bigger than Watergate,” Massie said during last week’s hearing. “This cover-up spans decades.”
Wexner’s name was temporarily redacted in the document on Epstein’s co-conspirators but it appeared hundreds of times in the files in other places. The files show that federal investigators were looking into Wexner before Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008.
A 2019 document from the FBI names Wexner as a “secondary” co-conspirator to Epstein.
“There is limited evidence regarding his involvement,” the document notes.
Wexner’s attorneys say he was informed by the assistant U.S. attorney in 2019 that he “was neither a co-conspirator nor target in any respect,” in relation to the Epstein investigation.
A spokesperson for Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said Wexner and the committee have “coordinated in good faith” for his testimony.
Epstein served as a financial adviser to Wexner from 1987 to 2007.
Wexner is the wealthiest person in Ohio and a frequent donor to political campaigns. He has recently donated to several Ohio Republicans, including Sen. Jon Husted and Sen. Bernie Moreno. He has also donated to Democratic politicians in recent years, including Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther in 2024, 2023 and 2021.
