The Houston Texans agreed to trade for New England Patriots linebacker Marte Mapu, a league source told UPI on Tuesday.
The Texans will send a sixth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft to the Patriots in exchange for Mapu and a seventh-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Mapu, 26, was a third-round pick by the Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound defender appeared in 44 games through his first three seasons. He started 10 times during that span.
Mapu logged 25 combined tackles, five passes defensed, a forced fumble, fumble recovery and interception over 17 appearances last season. He totaled a career-high 46 combined tackles over 10 appearances in 2024.
He has one year remaining on his rookie contract.
