Cam Skattebo rushed for three scores, while the New York Giants held Saquon Barkley to 58 rushing yards in upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles to open Week 6.
Skattebo logged 110 yards from scrimmage on 21 touches in the 34-17 triumph Thursday in East Rutherford, N.J. Fellow Giants rookie Jaxson Dart completed 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards and a score, while adding another 58 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
“We played hard,” Skattebo told reporters. “Props to the guys up front for all the effort they gave me and this team. They battled to the end and that’s what matters.”
The Giants edged the Eagles 25-20 in first downs and 366 to 339 in total yards, including a 172-73 advantage on the ground. They trailed 17-13 in the second quarter, but scored 21 answered points — courtesy of Skattebo’s three touchdown runs — to secure their second victory of the season.
“We hear what people say,” Dart said. “It definitely lights a fire in us. … I’m just really proud of how the guys played. We are just trying to set a standard of intensity here each and every day.”

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 24 of 33 passes for 283 yards, a score and an interception. Running back A.J. Dillon lost a fumble in the loss. The Eagles converted just once on nine third-down attempts, compared to the Giants’ 11 of 16 rate.
The loss resulted in the first two-game losing streak for the Eagles since the 2023 season. The Eagles entered Week 5 with wins in 20 of their previous 21 games, including their Super Bowl LIX title. They scored a total of just seven points in the second halves of their last two performances.
“I’ve got to be better,” Hurts said. “I take ownership for it. A lot of autonomy and a lot of opportunity there with the ball in my hands. Given those situations, I have to be wiser and more detailed. … I see a lot of opportunity in this.”
Eagles kicker Jake Elliott hit a 42-yard field goal three minutes into game for the first points of the night. Dart scrambled for a 20-yard touchdown on the next drive for the Giants’ first advantage.
The Giants defense then forced a three-and-out. Dart followed with a 35-yard touchdown toss to Wan’Dale Robinson, and the Giants took a 13-3 lead.
The Eagles answered with 14-consecutive points. Hurts started that run with a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dallas Goedert. He ran for a 1-yard score midway through the second quarter to fuel a 17-13 edge, but the Eagles didn’t score again.

Dart helped lead a 15-play, 67-yard touchdown drive on the next possession. Skattebo ended the drive with a 4-yard score and the Giants led 20-17 at halftime. He added a 1-yard touchdown seven minutes into the second half for a 27-17 lead.
Giants cornerback Cor’Dale Flott intercepted Hurts about 3:30 into the fourth quarter. Skattebo ran for the game’s final score about two minutes later.
Brian Burns recorded two sacks in the victory. Fellow Giants linebacker Darius Muasau also recorded a sack. Giants cornerback Dru Phillips logged a tackle for a loss and fumble recovery. Safety Dane Belton forced the Dillon turnover.
The Giants (2-4) will take on the Denver Broncos (3-2) at 4:05 p.m. EDT Oct. 19 in Denver. The Eagles (4-2) will play the Minnesota Vikings (3-2) on Oct. 19 in Minneapolis.
“That’s a good football team that we just played,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said of the Eagles. “So we’ll get a couple days off, rest our guys. Hopefully they’ll be back on Monday and get ready for our next opponent.”
