The New York Jets agreed to trade pass rusher Jermaine Johnson II to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat, league sources told UPI on Thursday.

The trade can’t be officially processed until after March 11, the start of the NFL’s new league year.

Johnson, 27, joined the Jets as the No. 26 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He totaled 13 sacks over his first four seasons. Johnson registered 43 combined tackles, five tackles for a loss, three sacks and two passes defensed over 14 appearances last season.

The Jets exercised the fifth-year option on Johnson’s rookie contract in April. He is set to hit free agency in 2027.

Sweat, 24, was a second-round pick by the Titans in the 2024 NFL Draft. He logged 85 combined tackles, eight tackles for a loss, three sacks, two passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over his first two seasons. The 6-foot-4, 366-pound tackle is under contract through 2027.

The Jets, who hold the Nos. 2 and 16 overall picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, will fulfill a need by acquiring Sweat, while potentially creating another at pass rusher. The Titans have the No. 4 selection.
