Minnesota Vikings fire GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after four seasons

The Minnesota Vikings fired general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, they announced Friday.

Vikings owners Mark and Zygi Wilf said executive vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski will lead operations through the 2026 NFL Draft. They made the decision to dismiss Adofo-Mensah after their annual end of season organizational meetings.

“These decisions are never easy,” the Wilfs said. “We are grateful for Kwesi’s contributions and commitment to the organization over the past four years and wish him and his family the best in the future.”

The Wilfs said they will search for their new general manager after the 2026 NFL Draft, which will be held April 23 to 25 in Pittsburgh. The Vikings the No. 18 overall pick.

“Rob brings tremendous credibility and experience, understands our roster, and has the ability to build consensus and rely on the expertise of our personnel and coaches,” the Wilfs said.

“After the draft, we intend to conduct a thorough search to identify our next general manager. Building a team that can contend for championships drives us every day, and we look forward to bringing our fans the success they so deserve.”

Adofo-Mensah joined the Vikings in 2022. The Vikings went 13-4 in his first season and 7-10 in 2023, with quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Vikings signed Sam Darnold ahead of the 2024 campaign and proceeded to go 14-3, but let Darnold leave in free agency last off-season.

They went 9-8 in 2025, while led by second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

The Vikings, who totaled the 12th-most yards and sixth-most passing yards in 2024, owned the fifth-worst offense and fourth-worst passing game in the NFL in 2025.

Adofo-Mensah signed a multi-year contract extension with the Vikings in May. He also participated in several recent scouting events, including the Senior Bowl. The 44-year-old executive previously worked for the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns.
