Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., plans to make a resolution to censure Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., and to kick him off of committees, sources say.
Sources have told Axios, The Hill and Fox News about Mace’s resolution, which would be privileged, meaning it would force Republican leadership to act within two legislative days. The censure would kick him off the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees, Axios reported.
Mills had faced censure before for stolen valor, but the measure was never passed.
He has also been given a restraining order in Florida to stay away from a previous girlfriend. The woman accused him of harassing and threatening to blackmail her with revenge porn and physical violence against anyone she dated. Mills denied some of the accusations.
In September, Mace threatened to censure Mills when he voted not to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., for her criticism of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Mace had introduced the resolution. “At the end of the day, I’m a constitutionalist,” he said on X.
Democrats have tried to censure Mills three different times, but each was in retaliation for censure resolutions against Democrats. When those measures failed, the Democrats dropped them.
Mace has accused Mills of participating in a “backroom deal” at the time to avoid a censure. She said, “I have the general who ‘recommended’ him for the Bronze Star on record saying he never wrote it, never read it and never personally signed it.”
The stolen valor charge comes from his Bronze Star, which he was given for saving the lives of fellow soldiers. But soldiers who served with him said he wasn’t there.
Mills has also been accused of financial misconduct and domestic abuse. In the domestic abuse charge, the victim recanted her story.
Mills’ office told Fox News Digital there was never a deal. But he did vote in favor of censuring Delegate Stacey Plaskett, D-V.I., for her text conversations with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
