Sen. Mark Warner announced Monday that his daughter, Madison Warner, died after decades of “health issues.” She was 36.

In a post on X, the Virginia Democrat and his wife, Lisa Collis, didn’t reveal the cause of their daughter’s death, but said she had faced “a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues.” They described themselves as “heartbroken beyond words.”

“She filled our lives with love and laughter, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void,” the statement said.

“We are grateful for the loving support of friends and family during this difficult time and ask for privacy as we navigate this profound loss.”

In addition to her parents, Madison Warner is survived by two younger sisters, Gillian and Eliza, The Hill reported.

Following the announcement, lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle offered their condolences online.

“I want to express my deepest and dearest sympathies for my friend, Senator Mark Warner, his wife Lisa and the rest of their family as they mourn the terrible loss of their daughter Madison. The depth of this loss is unfathomable,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said in a statement.

“I am keeping the Warner family in my prayers and wishing them strength. May Madison’s memory be a blessing.”

Vice President JD Vance said his prayers were with Warner, his daughter and his family.

“What a terrible loss at such a young age,” he said. “May God comfort them.”
