A suspect was charged with attempted murder arrest in Los Angeles on Monday after gunfire from an assault rifle was directed toward the home of pop star Rihanna in the Beverly Hills Post Office district of the city.

The Los Angeles Police Department identified 35-year-old Ivanna Ortiz as the woman taken into custody after the Sunday lunchtime incident in which between five and seven shots were fired at the property.

Police said the shots fired from a vehicle across the street struck the front gate, a wall and a RV, but not the house. No one was hurt.

A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that Rihanna was home at the time. No injuries were reported.

The suspect’s white Tesla was spotted by a police helicopter and pursued to a shopping mall in Sherman Oaks where she was arrested around 30 minutes later.

“When they pulled her over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings,” LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias said.

Ortiz is being held on $10.2 million bail.

Rihanna shares the colonial-style mansion with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, and their three children aged between five months and three years.

The Barbados born celebrity has been the target of previous incidents, including stalking in 2018 in which a man broke into her home in the Hollywood Hills when she was away and stayed there for about 12 hours.

Eduardo Leon was placed on probation for five years, required to submit to 90 days’ GPS monitoring and undergo mental health and drug treatment after pleading no contest to stalking in February 2019.

In February 2025, a jury acquitted A$AP Rocky of charges of firing a gun at a former friend.
