The Philadelphia Eagles and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jalen Carter agreed to a four-year, $152 million extension, Rosenhaus Sports said Tuesday.
Carter’s pact will keep him under contract with the Eagles through 2031. The contract, which will make Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history, is worth up to $160 million and includes $106 million in guarantees.
Carter, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, totaled 108 combined tackles, 37 quarterback hits, 25 tackles for a loss, 13.5 sacks, 13 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and a fumble return for a touchdown through his first three seasons.
The 6-foot-3, 314-pound defender made the Pro Bowl each of the last two seasons. Carter logged 43 appearances for the Eagles, including 27 starts through his first three seasons.
Pro Football Focus gave Carter the No. 8 pass rush rating among defensive tackles who were in for at least 50% of the maximum snaps played at the position last season. He ranked No. 6 in that category among qualifying players in 2024 and 2023, when he also received the fifth-best overall rating at the position.
Eagles players reported for training camp Tuesday in Philadelphia. The Eagles will take on the Baltimore Ravens in their preseason opener Aug. 15 in Baltimore. They will host the Washington Commanders in their regular season opener Sept. 13 in Philadelphia.
