A new Presidential Walk of Fame exhibit at the White House omits former President Joe Biden in favor of a photo of an autopen that is signing Biden’s signature.
White House staff recently installed the exhibit outside the West Wing that displays portraits of all U.S. presidents, except Biden, and set within gilded frames, according to ABC News.
The new exhibit was unveiled on Wednesday and reflects President Donald Trump’s criticism of Biden’s use of the autopen to sign more than 1,500 pardons and other documents.
“It was illegally used,” Trump told media earlier in September. “He never gave the orders.”
The president accused Biden’s staff of using the autopen, which replicates people’s signatures, to sign pardons without Biden’s knowledge.
“He never told them what to do,” Trump said of Biden. “I guess the only one he signed, or one of the few he signed, was the pardon for his son.”
Trump has said the Biden administration made frequent use of the autopen to sign pardons and bills into law because the former president lacked mental awareness.
He wants Biden’s pardons, which include blanket pardons for his family and others, declared invalid due to the questionable use of the autopen.
Biden denied Trump’s claims about the former president’s mental faculties and autopen use.
“I made the decisions during my presidency,” Biden said in a recently released statement, as reported by ABC News.
“I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation and proclamations,” Biden continued.
“Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false,” he added.
